Family Christmas Activities in Toronto: Solve a Holiday Mystery Together

Searching for family Christmas activities in Toronto that let children and adults take part together? Gray Line Toronto’s Winter Lights and Mystery Scavenger Hunt by Bus gives your family a shared mission for the evening.

In the fictional story, Jack Frost has hidden the Winter Star. Your team follows clues through surprise checkpoints, collecting answers as you help bring back Toronto’s Winter Glow.

Children can look for details, adults can help read clues and everyone can share their ideas. The fun comes from figuring things out together.

A Christmas activity that invites participation

Families often include different ages and interests. A shared mystery gives everyone a way to contribute without expecting each person to solve every puzzle alone.

Younger children may enjoy spotting shapes, decorations or details. Older children can help interpret clues and compare answers. Adults can guide the team while joining in themselves.

Children participate with an adult, and younger guests may need help reading. Your live host also provides hints along the way.

How long does the family adventure take?

Allow approximately 60–90 minutes for the experience.

Main departures are at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. from 55 York Street. Choose a departure that works with your family’s dinner plans, journey downtown and usual evening routine.

An earlier outing may suit younger children. A later departure can work for families planning an activity after their daytime commitments.

Check the booking calendar for available dates before organizing the rest of your evening.

A heated bus and short outdoor stops

Travel on a heated bus with a live English-speaking host. Some checkpoints are viewed from the vehicle, while others involve short outdoor portions.

Dress everyone in warm layers and choose footwear suitable for the conditions. Having a warm bus between outdoor moments can help make the outing more comfortable, but winter clothing is still important.

If your family has specific boarding or mobility requirements, contact the team before booking to discuss the vehicle and walking portions.

Getting your family ready

Bring one charged smartphone with mobile data per team. No app download is required.

Save your booking confirmation before leaving home, check the pickup map and agree on where your group will meet. Let children know they will be helping with a fictional holiday mystery so they can look forward to their role.
